Description

Burrowing owls are a species of owl that are found in North and South America. They are so named because they live in underground burrows that they either dig themselves or use abandoned burrows from other animals. These owls are quite small, usually only about 7 to 10 inches tall and weighing around 5 to 8 ounces a wingspan of 21-24 inches. They have brown feathers with white spots, and large yellow eyes. One of the most distinctive features of burrowing owls is that they have long legs, which they use to run quickly across the ground to catch prey.
