Peter Zell is an oil painter who has lived in Florida with his wife Carol for 12 years. Before that, he practiced law in California for 32 years, finding time to take art classes at the local community college during the five years before he retired. He is a past president of the Sanibel Captiva Art League, and past Area Chair For Florida Artist Group. He has won awards in juried competitions at Alliance for the Arts, Sanibel Captiva Art League, Arts for ACT, Art League of Fort Myers, Naples Art Association, and the Fort Myers "Paint the Beach" plein air competition. He is a past Second Place winner at the Art Council of SW Florida's Winner Circle competition in 2008, as well as a past nominee for Best New Artist in the Lee County Angel of the Arts awards selection. Recently, Peter's paintings have been accepted by the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio for its annual exhibition in 2013 and 2015.
