Sheila King has been making baskets for over thirty years and teaching basketry for over 20 years. She enjoys experimenting with various materials, incorporating palm sheaths, seeds, grass, straw, hand made paper, and other natural resources into stunning yet functional baskets. A recipient of numerous awards, Sheila was recently honored as an Artist-In-Residence at Denali National Park. While in Alaska, she spent several months researching native baskets and their materials and techniques which has added yet another dimension to her extraordinary work.
