Joan Tangren Reynolds
Joan was born and lived in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Having always enjoyed drawing, it was not until the early 70's that she began to take instruction from a local art instructor, Bill Force, who had been trained by Norman Rockwell and who provided a good background in oil painting principles and techniques. Additional studies were taken at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design for etching and lithography.
Encouraged to sell her work early in her career, art shows in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North and South Dakota became weekly events. Those shows honed her skills and established her name as an accomplished artist.
Her work is widely collected in Minneapolis by interior designers and professional and corporate offices including Anderson Windows and the Lutheran Brotherhood.
Joan continues to study with nationally prominent artists (McKinley, Frank Federico, Kim English) in oil, watercolor, acrylics and pastels.
Local landscapes have provided the majority of the subject matter for her paintings, however people involved in everyday activities have also been among her favorite subjects. As an artist Joan never stops exploring and searching for that certain angle of design, and the exciting play of shadow and light with ever changing color. This excitement is reflected in her work, and prized by the viewers of her paintings.
